Essex Schools Food & Farming Day 2024 – a big success!

Our event was held on Tuesday 25th June 2024 at ARU Writtle and it was another record year with hugely positive feedback from schools, exhibitors and stewards alike!

Below you will be able to see the official photos taken from the day, and the new video will be uploaded as soon as it has been finalised.

We would like to take the opportunity to thank all of the schools, exhibitors, farmer stewards, ARU volunteers and everyone involved in bringing this event together and helping it to make it a great success once again.

We have a ‘provisional’ date of Tuesday 24th June 2025, so please pencil that into your diary and we will confirm this and send information through when the 2025 event officially launches in the Autumn!

On behalf of all the staff and children from Great Dunmow that attended,  would like to say a huge thank you for organising such a wonderful event for the kids. The set up was spot on! We could tell a lot of thought had gone into it and it made the morning much easier to navigate from a school perspective, especially given the hot weather.

Great Dunmow Primary School

I just wanted to email to say thank you for another fantastic year at the Food and Farming Day. Our children had an amazing time and are so much more engaged with farming, which makes me so happy!! It was wonderful to see our ‘city’ children wanting to explore life in the countryside and experience opportunities that are far from their everyday life.

I can appreciate how much hard work must have gone into the event and it all ran so smoothly. It is such a well organised day and everyone was so friendly, patient and kind to the children, it’s becoming one of the highlights on our school calendar.

I hope you have a well deserved rest and we can’t wait to come again next year.

Queen Boudica Primary School

On behalf of J S Wright & Sons LTD, Thank you very much for the invite and a great opportunity to showcase what we do to create willow clefts for the cricket bat industry, it was an absolute pleasure to show all the different stages that are involved in the process.

JS Wright & Sons (exhibitor)

Thank you very much for the opportunity to exhibit at the Essex Schools Food and Farming Day event. The event was a huge success and we would be interested in attending next year.

Essex County Council (exhibitor)

Another great event – well done, the children had a ball and it was informative and well planned as always.

Farmer Steward

Great event and look forward to helping again next year.

Farmer Steward

I have attended the ESFFD on a number of occasions in the past as a guest and have always been impressed by the wonderful atmosphere provided by the EAS and so many young children. However, as yesterday was my first experience as a steward, I came to realise the enormous amount of effort that goes into making the day an experience that few will forget. Indeed, the amount of detailed planning and logistics must have been a real challenge and it was so pleasing that we were blessed with such good weather.

My congratulations to you both and all the team that made yesterday such a great success and I hope to be able to volunteer again in 2025.
