School Competitions 2027

We will be running 2 competitions for schools again in 2027.

The first one will be open to ALL primary schools in Essex and will be a creative one that your whole class/school can get involved with. The top entries will be invited to join us at the Essex Young Farmers Show on Sunday 16th May 2027 where the lucky winners will be announced.

The second will be our annual Scarecrow Competition held at our event day on Tuesday 22nd June 2027. This will be open to all the lucky schools that are attending our Essex Schools Food & Farming Day event.

YFC Show Competition 2026

Our YFC Show competition for 2026 has set you an Seasonal Menu Challenge! We need you to research seasonal foods, as well as what foods to put together to make a healthy nutritious diet. Plan a school menu for both the summer and winter term, taking all your research into account. This exciting challenge has been set for a chance to win a FREE hamper of fresh seasonal food for your school from a local farmer, The Green Barn Farm as well as a personalised talk with Farmer Ellena coming into your school to talk to you about producing local, fresh and seasonal produce. This is a fantastic opportunity to spend some time with a real local farmer and ask them any questions your children may have about farming and growing fresh, seasonal produce and selling it direct in their farm shop.

This competition is open to ALL primary schools in Essex, not just those joining us at our Food & Farming Day event on 23rd June.

Scarecrow Competition 2026

Our annual Scarecrow Competition brings an added element of fun to our Essex Schools Food & Farming Day event. The theme for 2026 is ‘Traditional Scarecrow’. Have some fun with it!
